This is the first day of this painting.  Here is my "deep thought" of the day: "What is underneath effects the beauty of what is on the outside."  I am experimenting with using colors underneath to effect the colors on top.

Musical inspiration of the day: By the Tree, "Hold You High."

I am already excited about how this one is going to turn out.  It is inspired by Yellowstone and the book of Isaiah.

Musical inspiration of the day: By the Tree, "Hold You High".

Dead trees!

Musical inspiration of the day: Braveheart soundtrack.

Starting the week off on the right foot. (Where does that saying come from anyway?  Please email me if you know.)

Musical inspiration of the day:  The Peter Nevland Band, "Birth of the Spoken Groove".

Workin' on the water...

Musical inspiration of the day:  Paul Finley, "14 Windows".

I even got paint on my foot today. (I thought I'd share.) Woe...Maybe this is where that saying comes from.

" As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."

Isaiah 55:10-11

I am still working on the water...slowly but surely.

Musical inspiration of the day: Third Day, "Offerings 2".

Happy Birthday Mommy!

I added rocks and water highlights and worked on some of the trees...with a little dancing in between cuz it's... Gospel Sunday!

Musical inspiration of the day:
Carlton Pearson, "Precious Memories".

Working on the shoreline, water, and started adding trees.

This painting is of trees from the big forest fire in Yellowstone and also of the trees that are starting to grow back.  I have been thinking a lot about how death brings life.  That may end up being the title of this one. I will explain more about it when I am finished... which will be soon God willing.

Musical inspiration of the day: Ambassador, "Christology: In Laymen's Terms."

I worked on the trees today.  In every painting there is a moment when you get a little scared because you like it so much but at the same time you know you can make it better by adding something.  You just have to be brave and go for it even though you know it might totally mess things up... but you also know you can't just settle for ok... so cheers to being brave in painting and in life.

Musical Inspiration of the day:  Jeremy Camp, "Stay."

I changed the color of the rocks. Not sure that I like them yet...I'm close to being done.

Musical Inspiration of the day: Switchfoot, "New Way to Be Human."

I am finally done!  I changed the color of the rocks and wa-laa.

Musical Inspiration of the Day:  Kutless, "Sea of Faces."

back to what's new
"It just got too hard." "It's supposed to be hard, if it wasn't hard
everyone would do it.  The hard is what makes it great."
