A couple of years ago I bought these little canvases to paint scenes from Houston. But I abandoned the project after I painted this piranha that I like to watch them feed at the Houston Zoo. So, this summer, I decided to paint some fish portraits on the other 4 canvases. So I painted a sheepshead, ladyfish and a hardhead catfish that I caught on a recent fishing trip. And I also painted a beta fish that I used to have. These were pretty fun. I may even make some more in the future. Afterall, there are a lot of fish in the sea.

"A  painting lives by companionship, expanding and quickening in the eyes
of the sensitive observer.  It dies by the same token.  It is therefore a
risky & unfeeling act to send it out into the world."
