The idea for this painting came from a bike ride along the bayou here in Houston on a beautiful carefree summer day where the big puffy marshmallow clouds were rolling in. I couldn't help but notice the beauty of all the patterns in the dirt from the excavator's tracks as he moved dirt that day. As I painted this I really enjoyed noticing all the patterns of man-made things like the tracks and the fence juxtaposed with the beautiful God-made light and clouds. In the end this one is definitely for my son- diggers, trucks, turtles and all. Click here to see this painting in progress.

"A painting lives by
companionship, expanding and quickening in the eyes
of the sensitive observer. It dies by the same token. It is
therefore a
risky & unfeeling act to send it out into the world."
-Tiger's Eye Magazine 1947.
