When I attended the University of Texas at Austin I loved going to football games. This year I went back again for the Alumni Game. It wasn't just any game though, it was dedicated to the memory of one of the greatest football coaches ever, Darrell K Royal. He died just days before this game. It truely was wonderful being there again, thinking back to my college days and feeling so at home. The whole experience inspired me to paint the stadium and reminded me that I always wanted to paint the way that the light there makes such beautiful shadows of the players and flags. If you went to a school with a good football team maybe you can relate to the sheer happiness that a simple game can bring to so many. I am pretty sure I was one of the only art students to go to every football game back in the day. I am sad that not everyone can share in experiencing the beauty there. Who knows... maybe this painting will help.

"A  painting lives by companionship, expanding and quickening in the eyes
of the sensitive observer.  It dies by the same token.  It is therefore a
risky & unfeeling act to send it out into the world."
