In October of 2013, I finally had a chance to witness the leaves changing in Northern Michigan. I always wanted to see this as it is the stuff of legends here in Texas. We have some leaves that change here but there are not as many in one concentrated area. So I went in search of witnessing this mysterious beauty and had the privlege of finding it. I took many photos but settled in on this scene as inspiration for my painting. It is from the "Tunnel of Trees Road" (Route 119) which is a scenic drive that goes along the easten shoreline of Lake Michigan. Overall it just makes me happy that God makes beauty like this just because. (And I am sure glad that his favorite color isn't tan!!!)

"A  painting lives by companionship, expanding and quickening in the eyes
of the sensitive observer.  It dies by the same token.  It is therefore a
risky & unfeeling act to send it out into the world."
