I have been thinking about how God used to talk through clouds before Jesus came the first time.  So next I am going to paint a really long and narrow horizon painting of a cool colored cloud bank and a sailboat being blown towards the clouds with lightning and warm colors.

Today I started my new painting. The green stripe on the bottom is going to be the ocean and the blue part is the sky.  Above that there are going to be clouds. This painting is 6 feet wide and 1 foot tall. This may take a while...

Today I started adding clouds.

Today I added more clouds. I almost have the entire canvas covered in one layer of paint.

Today I added more orange, yellow, and pink to the right side.  I also added more clouds over there.  Then I started working on the dark spot near the top middle.  I am trying to figure out how to merge the dark side and the light side into one composition.  I am also trying to think about where the lightning should go.

Today I started to add the lightning.

Today I added some white and pink outlines to the clouds.

I added more contrast to the purpley lightning cloud and more dark browns and purples under all the clouds.

I shaded some of the clouds in the middle today.

I added more light colors to the lightning cloud and I also added more greenish gray and dark brown to the clouds on the left.

I added more dark bluish grays to the clouds on the middle left.  Clouds are so hard... why do I always do this to myself? :)

I added waves to the water today.  I am a bit frustrated with this painting today...

10.05.2009 (the last day of my twenties...)

I worked on adding contrast in the sky by adding some darker blues to make it look more rainy.

I added the boat on the left today.

I added more yellowish white to the clouds today.  I added it to the bottom clouds mainly.

I changed the boat today.  I had previously put the sails too close together and made it's color too light in value.
