My next painting is going to be 3 panels.  My goal is to experiment with the edges and make weird effects by continuing the lines from the painting to the sides.  It sounds complicated but it will be sort of like those billboards that change images with vertical strips...  ok this is hard to explain... just stay tuned to see what I am talking about.
(This is an unfinished sketch of my idea.)

This painting for me is an experiment with using the sides of the canvas as compositional elements.  So basically I want to see how I can make the lines on the side interact with the painting on the front.  We'll see what happens.

It's going to be a sunrise.

Musical Inspiration of the Day:  The Legend of Johnny Cash.

3.15.2006

I got to paint all day!  I am painting the car all blurry like it's moving.  I heard someone say that there is no movement in paintings the other day so it was like a dare.  We'll see if it works.

Musical Inspiration of the Day:  Mix 94.7, Charles Stanley sermon, and the Legend of Johnny Cash.

3.25.2006

I added the stop light and the light poles.  I also started adding the wires and added more purple to the sky.  I added more detail to the car as well. (This painting is difficult to photograph!)

Inspirations of the Day: NCAA men's basketball, the elite 8. (Hook 'em horns!)  and I also listened to my new Athlete CD.

4.03.2006

I added more wires today.  Slowly but surely...

Inspiration of the Day: NCAA men's basketball, the championship game: Florida v. UCLA.

4.06.2006

I added more wires on the sides of the painting today.  I also added the big stoplight.

Musical Inspiration of the Day: Braveheart Motion Picture Soundtrack. (I heart bagpipes!)

4.08.2006

I added some birds today and some more wires on the sides of the painting.

Musical Inspiration of the Day: The Wedding Singer Soundtrack and The Cream of Eric Clapton CD.

4.14.2006

I added another car today.  I also changed the colors of the big stoplight and some of the wires. I'm almost finished I think.

Inspiration of the Day: I listened to Charles Stanley: Sermons on Humility.
