This is the sketch for my 1st painting from Houston!  It will be a painting of a sunset and a fence. I am super excited about it. It is based on the idea of hope/faith- the idea that we can't see everything now or understand why God is guiding us a certain direction but someday we will see and understand if we believe in him. These verses from the Bible gave me the idea:

"Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror then we shall see face to face.  Now I know in part, then I shall know fully even as I am fully known." 1 Corinthians 13:12

"Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known.  But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.  Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure." 1 John 3:2-3

My first day in my new studio. A new painting begins. See how happy I am?!

Musical Inspiration of the Day:
David Crowder, Illuminate.

7.16.2006

Little known fact: Sundays are the best day of the week. This has been a great one.

I added a lot of blue sky and the gray clouds today.

Musical Inspiration of the Day: Switchfoot, A New Way to Be Human.

7.17.2006

More contrast and more colors were added tonight.  Something tells me that this one is going to change a lot from day to day.  Stay tuned.

Musical Inspiration of the Day:
Mindy Smith, One Moment More.

7.22.2006

I added more gray to the bright blue areas of the sky at the top and I also added more white around the clouds.  I also changed the color inside the cloud.

Musical Inspiration of the Day:
The Robbie Seay Band, Better Days.
(I just got this one and it is GREAT! #4 = my favorite.)

7.24.2006

I added more dark gray to the top sky parts.  I also added the dark color to the ground. Painting the sky is really challenging.  We'll see how it turns out...

Musical Inspiration of the Day:
Nichole Nordeman, Brave.

Song #3(Someday) is based on the same idea as my painting. Sweet!  A quote:

"Someday all that’s crazy
All that’s unexplained
Will fall into place
And someday all that’s hazy
Through a clouded glass
Will be clear at last
And sometimes we’re just waiting
For someday.

We are born with a lingering hunger
We are born to be unsatisfied
We are strangers who can’t help but wander
And dream about the other side of..."

7.25.2006

I added more white and light green to the sky.  I also started making the fence.

So for me, in every painting, there is this moment where you really like it and you are scared to keep going because you realize that you might mess it up.  But you have to force yourself to press on because of the chance of making it something great. I bet that is what guys feel like when they ask girls out.  Hmmm... painting has a lot of life applications.  Anyway, that is what I felt like when I started painting the fence today.

Musical Inspiration of the Day:
The Robbie Seay Band, Better Days.

7.26.2006

I added more of the fence today.  I am still not sure how high I am going to make it.

I also added some more blue to the sky.

Musical Inspiration of the Day:
Nichole Nordeman, Brave.

7.30.2006

I made the fence higher today and I added more dark purple to the clouds.

I am getting a little closer to being finished!

Musical Inspiration of the Day:
Randy Travis, Glory Train.

8.01.2006

I made the fence dark today.  In person you can tell that it is closer than the background but in this picture it is hard to tell.

I also added more light blue to the sky.  I think that I will be finished tomorrow probably. Yay!

Musical Inspiration of the Day:
