I am painting a red cactus for my son. We saw it in Ft. Davis, Texas.
i am just sketching in where things are today.
Day 2 / May 7, 2017.
I started blocking in where the cactus goes.
Day 3 / May 9, 2017.
I added some rock details and some darker areas of the cactus.

More cactus details.

I filled the rocks to the left of the cactus and continued fine tuning the rock details.

More work on the gravel. Who knew there were so many colors of rocks in gravel.

More work on the gravel and I added some contrast and shadows to the rocks.

I decided that the different color rocks on the right was too purple so it was messing with the depth perception of the painting so I made them more grey.
Day 21/ June 28, 2017.
Tweaking prickles.

Added more dark green contrasts inside of the cactus.
