Next I am going to paint a seahorse! Stay tuned.

8.04.2009

Today I started my seahorse painting.  I am going to try to get it finished in a week.  We'll see what happens! :)

8.05.2009

Today I added some orange and red tones.  I wanted to work more but the heat was a bit much.  It was over 100 degrees in my garage/studio.

8.06.2009

Today I added some more contrast to the red plant (with reds, oranges, and purples) and then began to paint in the shape of the seahorse.  It was really hot again so I had to continue later in the evening...

8.06.2009 (**Continued)

Once it cooled down to 100 degrees in my studio at 7:30p.m. I started working on the shading for my seahorse's body.  I added lots of different yellows and browns. (I also made his snout a bit longer.)

8.07.2009

I worked on the body of the seahorse more today and I started adding the green plants.

8.09.2009

Today, as a ginormous storm raged on outside,  I worked more on the green plants and then I put a lighter blue on top of the darker blue background.  You can still see some of the darker blue in places which, I think, works well because it adds more depth to the water.

Oops!  No photo.

8.11.2009

Today I got rid of one of the red pieces of coral.

8.12.2009

Today I worked on a few finishing touches: a bit more contrast in the eye and signed the painting. Boom!  I'm done!
