7.16.2012 >>> Another big Grand Teton Mountain Painting is coming soon! Stay Tuned!

7.19.2012

Here is my sketch of my new painting. It will be the Teton Mountains and Jenny Lake in the background with a few lodgepole pines in the foreground. I just fell in love with the shape of these trees as I was hiking around the Tetons.

7.20.2012

I started painting the sky and mountains today. This one is 7 feet long- a fun challenge! I love painting big!

7.23.2012

I added some browns to the mountains and started making the water. This one is so big that it takes a lot of time just to get all the spaced filled in. Once I do that I will work on the details.

I added some lighter colors in the water and some darker blue greys in the mountains.

8.01.2012

I worked on the water a lot today. I added a lot of contrast on the right side near the reflections. Painting water/reflections can get frustrating!

8.02.2012

More details in the water reflections today. The contrast and details are pretty difficult but I think that I am making some progress conquering them. I added alot of dark green near the edges and more white to the reflections.

8.03.2012

I added more dark contrast to the reflections on the left side of the water and then added in the clouds. I am to the point where I need to add the trees in the foreground but I am now second guessing myself. Hmmm... trees or no trees- that is the question.

8.04.2012

I decided to go for it and I added the tree. So far so good.

I added the second tree today. I think that I am almost finished- I only have a few touch ups left.
