Today I am starting my new painting of a tree that blooms every February here in Houston.

I started adding more branches today.

I started adding more blooms.

I started adding the background color. A light blue-green to complement the red-violet flowers.

I added a few more buds.

I made the sky a bit lighter.

I tried to add some depth to the sky... lighter and darker areas.

I added more white to the clouds.

I decided that it needed more contrast to make the flower come forward as well as a bolder blue green to make the red violet in the flowers pop more. So far I like the change...

I worked on the clouds more today- adding white highlights mainly.

I added more flowers and worked on details on the big flower.

I worked on details on the big flower again today.

I worked on the background more and the leaves.

I made the background a bit lighter blue-green. Almost finished I think.

I added a few more buds and teaked a few details. Pretty much done. Just need to add a bit of white highlights to the clouds.
