I have always loved it when the Tulip Trees (a type of Magnolia) bloom here in Houston in February. Their blooms always seem to arrive on a beautiful cloudless day that signals the beginning of Spring. Usually the blooms only make is a couple of weeks because it either rains or the leaves come out or it decides to freeze again. But the flowers are just beautiful for the brief moments that they are here. And this year it was no different except that this year I took photos of them the day before my baby was born. So this painting will always help me remember what a beautiful day that it was as Spring was born in 2014 and will serve as a symbol for the new life that God gave me to enjoy. There is joy in the beauty that he gives to us. May we all have eyes to see it.

"A  painting lives by companionship, expanding and quickening in the eyes
of the sensitive observer.  It dies by the same token.  It is therefore a
risky & unfeeling act to send it out into the world."
