Every time that I go fishing, I am entranced by the beauty of fish. There are so many colors reflecting off of them as they thrash around on my hook. (Beautiful and tasty too!) As I painted this trout I also noticed the beauty of the wood planks that made up the pier that I was fishing off of. And I guess that is why I like fishing, it gives you a chance to be still and take it all in- the beauty of simple things and the excitement of the unexpected. "A painting lives by
companionship, expanding and quickening in the eyes
of the sensitive observer. It dies by the same token. It is
therefore a
risky & unfeeling act to send it out into the world."
-Tiger's Eye Magazine 1947.
