Over Spring Break 2012, I went to visit the Gudalupe Mountains in west Texas. As we were driving down the road one day we looked over and saw a large bird sitting on a fence post. We stopped to take some photos. It flew off as we were taking them, but then we soon realized it was not just a vulture or something, it was actually a golden eagle! They are as large as bald eagles but they just have more of a brown and gold look to them. I felt very blessed that God let me see such an amazing creature in the wild. Thus, I felt I had to paint it to help me remember. Click here to see this painting in progress!

"A painting lives by
companionship, expanding and quickening in the eyes
of the sensitive observer. It dies by the same token. It is
therefore a
risky & unfeeling act to send it out into the world."
-Tiger's Eye Magazine 1947.
