Introducing my painting:
"Kim's Reflections of the Rising Sun."

For Christmas this year, my friend Kim Hopson and I decided to do a painting exchange.  Here are the results:

About Kim's Reflections of the Rising Sun:::

I have always liked the way pavement looks when it is wet.  All the stop lights and car lights and street lights reflect off of it and it just looks pretty.  As I always say, it’s the little things.

I made this painting for my friend and fellow artist Kim Hopson.  While I was painting it I was thinking about the below verses and praying that God’s light of love, truth and healing would “shine like the dawn” in her life, continually rising each day and  continually growing brighter and brighter, until she is completely free.  Amen.

Isaiah 60:1-3

"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.
See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you.

Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn."

Also Isaiah 58:6-8

6 "Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
       to set the oppressed free
       and break every yoke?

7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe him,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?

8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
       and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness will go before you,
and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.

"A  painting lives by companionship, expanding and quickening in the eyes
of the sensitive observer.  It dies by the same token.  It is therefore a
risky & unfeeling act to send it out into the world."
