This summer I saw a Montezuma Quail for the first time. He was walking around with his wife through all the rocks and dry grass near Fort Davis, Texas. I thought that all of the patterns on his feathers were really beautiful so I decided he would be fun to paint. There were a lot fires in the area last spring so it is amazing that he even made it. But life goes on I suppose. Click here to see this painting in progress! Detail of image.

"A painting lives by
companionship, expanding and quickening in the eyes
of the sensitive observer. It dies by the same token. It is
therefore a
risky & unfeeling act to send it out into the world."
-Tiger's Eye Magazine 1947.
